Job Description – Field Engineer (Road Works)

Responsibilities

🔹 Supervision & Compliance
▪ Oversee construction site activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and building codes.
▪ Supervise contractors to ensure high-quality workmanship that meets Tatu City standards.
▪ Monitor construction and rehabilitation works, including environmental mitigation and safety plans, as per contractual agreements.

🔹 Site Records & Data Collection
▪ Ensure all site records are prepared and submitted on time.
▪ Collect and analyze road inventory data to assist in roadwork programs and cost estimates.
▪ Gather and process data necessary for appraising road works and aligning resources with the planned scope.

🔹 Survey & Design Adjustments
▪ Conduct engineering surveys for roads and structures.
▪ Provide inputs into the design process and make necessary changes to drawings based on site conditions (with Resident Engineer approval).
▪ Develop geometric designs from survey results using AutoCAD, Civil CAD, or similar software.

🔹 Hydrological & Drainage Design Review
▪ Assess hydrological and drainage designs and modify them based on project site conditions.

🔹 Project Monitoring & Compliance
▪ Review contractor work programs, resource schedules, and implementation plans to ensure timely completion.
▪ Ensure contractors and site supervisors comply with their work plans.
▪ Evaluate contractor performance, resources, and adherence to specifications.

🔹 Contract Management & Documentation
▪ Provide clear written and verbal instructions to contractors.
▪ Quickly resolve project-related issues that may cause delays.
▪ Draft contractual correspondence, interpret contract conditions, monitor progress, and prepare work plans and meeting minutes.

Requirements

✅ Education & Experience
▪ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Building & Construction, or a related field.
▪ Minimum 7 years of relevant site work experience in supervision of Civil Works.

✅ Technical Skills
▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project.
▪ Competency in engineering software such as AutoCAD and other relevant applications.
▪ Strong understanding of Contract Management for Civil Engineering Works.

✅ Personal Attributes
▪ Excellent planning and organizational skills.
▪ Proven track record in managing and delivering civil engineering projects successfully.
